Adequate manpower to be deployed on PHE projects: Taj

Jammu, Mar 29: The Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din Thursday said that the department of PHE is managing operation and maintenance of water supply system in the entire North Kashmir region including Sangrama Constituency through the available staff strength. He said an amount of Rs 30 lakh has also been released under Flood Restoration Irrigation Division Kupwara for the said purpose during current financial year. 8. The department has lastly rationalized the need of staff in almost all of the divisions in North Kashmir as per the availability. Replying to the calling attention motion of Ch Zulafkar Ali in the Assembly today, the minister said there was no provision for requirement of the staff in such centrally sponsored schemes. The minister said that as far as Darhal Constituency is concerned, there's no shortage of field staff there and in future, if need arises, additional persons on need basis will be engaged for commissioning of new water supply schemes to meet up the shortage and it will be done strictly on the recommendations of the Assistant Executive Engineers subject to the condition that the persons to be engaged should be local resident of the area. Meanwhile, Taj informed the House that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) amounting to Rs 110 crore for restoration works on Kehmil, Pohru and Talri Nallahs has been formulated under FMP and is under process for submission to Centre Government for consideration. "Moreover, an amount of Rs. 13 lakh each for Pohru, Kehmil Nallah and Rs. 16 lakh for Tatri Nallah has been released under NABARD loan assistance during the current financial year for flood restoration purpose in order to save the life and property of the people", he added.
